Dental Extractions

extractionsAt Dentistry on Broadway, our experienced team of professionals will do everything they can to help you save your natural teeth. We offer minimally-invasive procedures for internally-infected teeth and restoration services that remove the least amount of healthy tooth structure so that you can enjoy optimal oral health. Unfortunately, an abscessed or severely injured tooth may not be successfully treated with a root canal or other restorative procedures. For these cases, Dr. Oliviero offers tooth extractions.

Ensuring Comfort During Your Extraction

Fortunately, our compassionate and meticulous team is prepared to make you as comfortable as possible for the extraction procedure using local anesthesia. To help you relax, we also offer nitrous oxide services. You will find that our dentists are precise and thorough with tooth extractions, using extra care to numb your mouth to any discomfort.

Post-Extraction Instructions

After an extraction, it is important to follow specific instructions for care in order to avoid any complications. You should avoid chewing near the extraction site and stay away from hot liquids and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours. A liquid or soft foods diet may be recommended for a day following the procedure. Brush gently, avoiding the area surrounding the extraction, for one day. Do not use antiseptic mouthwashes; instead, rinse with salt water (approximately 1/2 teaspoon in a cup of water) after meals and before going to bed. To reduce swelling, apply a cold compress to the cheek or take anti-inflammatory medication.
